Darka Tarnawsky is owner and founding president of Bottom Line Productions, and has been involved in the arts and entertainment industry as a performer, volunteer, supporter and professional arts manager.
Darka holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with a specialization in Psychology from the University of Alberta (1987); an Arts Management Certificate from Grant MacEwan College (1989); and has over 20 years of professional experience in arts marketing, development, production and project coordination.
Darka was the recipient of the 1998 Grant MacEwan Distinguished Alumni Award, was nominated for a YWCA Woman of Distinction Award in the area of Arts and Culture that same year, and in October of 2000 was featured in the "Celebration of Women in the Arts: Wall of Fame" project to recognize women who have contributed to Edmonton’s artistic community.
Darka is a former board member of the Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta and was a member of the founding board of the Edmonton Arts Council as Chairman of Communications and representative of the amateur arts in Edmonton. A former member of the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers, Darka was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership with the organization in October of 1999.
Darka grew up in a Ukrainian family, where culture is an important part of everyday life. Today, she feels privileged to work in an area she so values and respects. (Her other loves are her husband Wally, her son Kassian and daughter Leda!)
